Montebello

We're all slowly getting used to our "everyday lives" again, but I wanted to take a moment to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at the villa and to thank you for allowing us to enjoy the perfect place for eight friends to come together to celebrate two milestone birthdays (50th and 70th).
What we feared would be a downside—the remote location—turned out to be the best. The 360-degree view was breathtaking, any time of day or night, whatever the weather. We loved it when the clouds rolled in, as it made for spectacular photos. The house was perfect for eight women, some of whom were meeting their "housemate" for the first time. The location was ideal (we loved the picturesque, cypress-lined roads) for excursions to Siena, Pienza, Montepulciano, San Quirico d'Orcia, Bagno Vignoni, the Abbey of San Antimo, and La Foce, as well as for several winery visits. But the real hidden gem was the charming owner, Alessandro. He was on hand to assist us on several occasions (when we needed a yoga mat, two were at our door the next morning) and gave us the unique opportunity to watch the grapes being pressed in the small wine cellar right next to the villa. We all have such fond memories of Alessandro and his beautiful villa. Suffice it to say, we would return in a heartbeat!

Villa Montebello hat alle Erwartungen übertroffen. Sehr gut ausgestattet, alles, was man braucht, ist vorhanden.
Herzlicher Empfang mit frischen Blumen, Obst und Wein. Der Besitzer ist eine sehr sympathische und freundliche Person. Wir empfehlen diesen Ort jedem.

Montebello was better than expected. The house is very well equipped. The meeting with the owner Alessandro was a highlight of our stay. He had so much passion for the legacy and the country where he comes from and his hospitality and modest way was a real joy. He is a very spacious person and took care of us like a family. Wow - Montebello is like a paradise on earth. In the morning to open the shutters and overlook the calm of the Val d'Orcia with the endless view of the distant mountain cities was spectacular. Sitting vines at the breakfast table under the canopy of the tire and sunbathe in the golden Tuscan sun... You don't have to say more. The encounter with the owner Alessandro was the icing on the cake on the “I” - he was just great. My children, my wife and my mother -in -law were all enthusiastic about this place and what he created here. The pool is fantastic and the restaurants in the surrounding cities are really fantastic. I can hardly wait to return - next time we have to find porcini mushrooms in the forest...

Nach zwei Wochen in Montebello sind wir nun wieder zu Hause. Das Haus war sehr schön und Alessandro besonders sympathisch. Ingesamt war aus unserer Sicht alles sehr schön. Die für uns getätigten Einkäufe waren perfekt, ebenfalls das erste Abendessen von welchem wir zwei Tage zehren konnten. Ich habe mic sehr gefreut ein Rad ausleihen zu können, weil die Gegend sich sehr gut für Radtouren eignet. Vielen Dank.

We were welcomed by some lovely wine produced from the vines around the house itself, what a start! Allessandro was so helpful with everything from restaurant reservations through helping me to plot out which vineyards to visit and in precisely which order (twice!). He showed me around his own wine production facilities hidden away nearby to the property. The pool is saltwater which is far better as a general swimming experience and it's all about a metre and a half deep so the youngest (5) was confident swimming as she could bounce off the bottom of the pool easily when needed. You should be prepared to do a lot of home cooking (we love that so this was perfect). There are lots of great sights to see nearby but the winding roads mean it takes a fair while to cover distances, that's worth noting for oldies. My only pointer for allessandro would be to add lots of heavyweight shade for around the pool for white English people like me. He made a great job of gathering together some umbrellas for us last minute and those were an absolute lifesaver for us, the house being on a wonderful hilltop with fantastic views comes with the advantage of a breeze by the pool... but that also takes down any lightweight umbrellas. Overall this was a five star stay, around the house we saw porcupines and wild boar and deer and all sorts of other treats, such is the isolation and natural beauty of the place. I'd love to add photographs to this review - spectacular views, no exaggeration. Thanks Alessandro (also for the surprise gift on my birthday since he noted the date in my passport!!) - lovely man.

Das Haus war sehr schön mit elegantem und schlichtem Interieur. Der Pool war fantastisch mit einer wunderbaren Länge und der Ausblick war natürlich grandios. Wir haben uns sehr gefreut über die nette Dame die am ersten Tag für uns gekocht hat und auch einen Einkauf für uns übernommen hat. Unser Hausherr war sehr herzlich und ist 2 mal zu Besuch gekommen und wir verbrachten dann auch einen herrlichen Nachmittag bei ihnen im Schloss. Ich kann nur jedem dieses Haus weiterempfehlen, der die Ruhe und Schönheit der Toskana erleben will. Einziger Nachteil: Es ist relativ abgelegen wenn mann mal schnell einkaufen gehen will oder ähnliches.

We are just returned from our holiday in Tuscany, and a hugely happy stay in Montebello, and I would like to thank you and your staff for your help in making this possible.
The villa is just perfect, and exceeded all of our expectations. We were overwhelmed too by the warmth and kindness of Alessandro, who proved to be the most generous and solicitous of hosts. Stupidly, in the anxiety of our departing with time enough for the drive back to the airport, I neglected to ask Alessandro for either his home or his e-mail address, as I very much would like to write and thank him again for all that he did to make our stay so memorable.
Therefore, I would be grateful if you could please approach him on my behalf and ask for his permission for you to let me have his contact details. I could, of course, send him a text message, but prefer not to as I do not belong to the generation for whom that is the most favoured means of communication! I hope to hear from you.
